We felt an instant connection when we met the members of the Salvation Army in Whitby. We were very warmly greeted by “Uncle” Marty who took such good care of us and kept us laughing all night.

Most of this congregation comes from Newfoundland which is a part of our family’s heritage. We started the night with a lovely meal, getting to know the Lieutenant and his wife, and then entered the sanctuary for a time of singing.

Abigail and Uncle Marty played the accordion together, and we all enjoyed several choruses. Our family sang for an hour and then had more time to fellowship before our journey home.

Thank you Ameta for asking our family out to your monthly event. It was a pleasure to be amongst such a joyful and fun-loving group of believers. A big thank you to Uncle Marty for helping us to feel right at home.
